CSW Robotics

During the last weekend in February, 11 freshmen from The Charter School of Wilmington took part in the MIT Zero Robotics challenge, an international competition in which students program satellites to complete complex challenges in a simulated space environment aboard the International Space Station.

The team ended up entering the elimination bracket ranked #1 and placed 4th overall. They were also recognized for the most readable and well-structured code among international finalists.

Throughout the season, the team designed, coded, tested, and optimized algorithms to control SPHERES satellites in zero-gravity conditions. The competition culminated at MIT, where students presented their work and went head-to-head with top teams from around the world.

Beyond the competition itself, participants had the opportunity to meet Professor Danielle Wood and other MIT professors and students, to explore topics in space systems engineering, satellite technology, and aerospace careers, an experience that brought together computer science, physics, and high-level teamwork in a truly meaningful way.

We are proud of these students for representing Charter on an international stage—go Force!
