Transfer Admissions - Application Will Open In April 2025

Charter Transfer Admissions 2025-2026 School Year

The Charter School of Wilmington accepts transfer students for grades 10 and 11 on a space-available basis.  The Charter School of Wilmington does not accept transfer students into 12th grade.

The application will be open from March 15 through April 27, 2025.

Required Documents for Transfer Applications

Students applying for the 2025-2026 school year must submit the following documents by May 3, 2025. All documents should be emailed to admissions@charterschool.org or submitted in person on the day of the transfer admissions assessment.  If submitting a recommendation letter on the day of the transfer admissions assessment, it must be delivered in a sealed envelope.

  • Official 2024-2025 mid-year high school transcript

  • Three recommendation letters (strongly recommended from a math and/or science teacher)

  • If available:

    • Copies of in-class math tests/assessments from the current school year

    • Copies of national standardized test scores (e.g., TerraNova, Iowa, CTBS, ERB, Stanford, Smarter Balanced, STAR, DSTP, PSAT, ACT, SAT)

Transfer Admissions Assessment – May 3, 2025

All applicants are required to take the Transfer Admissions Assessment on May 3, 2025, from 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM at The Charter School of Wilmington.

  • Students must arrive by 7:45 AM.

  • Registration for the assessment is completed by submitting a School Choice application, opening on March 15, 2025.

  • The assessment includes math, reading, grammar, and an essay.

  • A calculator will be provided for the math section.

Admissions Interview

After reviewing submitted documents and assessment performance, selected students will be invited for an interview in early June.

Accepted Transfer Students

All accepted transfer students will be required to submit an official 2024-2025 report card and transcript.

Last Day to Accept Transfers

September 1, 2025, will be the last day for transfers to be accepted at CSW.

Applicants with IEPs or Section 504 Accommodation Plans

The Charter School of Wilmington (CSW) commits to support each enrolled student with an IEP (Individualized Education Program) or Section 504 accommodation plan as needed.  CSW does not need to know of an applicant’s IEP or 504 requirements until after acceptance; however, if an applicant requires accommodations for participation in our Assessment and written essay, please contact the school at least one week in advance of the applicant’s Assessment date to allow for adequate preparation time.
