CSW students

CSW’s Samsung Solve for Tomorrow team, AKQUA-Gel, continues to make an impact on the global stage. The team placed top 10 internationally in the competition and was selected as Global Ambassadors, a remarkable achievement that reflects both innovation and purpose.

AKQUA-Gel is a smart, hydrogel-based bandage designed to make healthcare more accessible and efficient. The bandage allows doctors to remotely monitor wounds, keeping patients, caregivers, and medical professionals informed without requiring frequent in-person hospital visits. The goal is to reduce long wait times and improve patient care through smart, preventative technology.

As a representative of the team, Arya Anilkumar will travel to Italy to present the project to Samsung Global and the International Olympic Committee. During the presentation, she will share how the team has grown since the national competition, the development of the project, and their goals as ambassadors to expand access and inspire future innovators, especially women pursuing STEM in traditionally male-dominated fields.

The team credits their success to the strong foundation built at CSW. Presentation-based coursework and hands-on support from the Science Department played a key role in bringing AKQUA-Gel to life. Special thanks go to Dr. Valenti, Mr. Darone, Mr. Costanza, and Mrs. Tanzer whose guidance and support helped move the project from an idea to an internationally recognized innovation.

As AKQUA-Gel heads to Italy, the team looks forward to connecting with students, professionals, and industry leaders from around the world, continuing to learn, collaborate, and share opportunities on a global scale.
