Two teams of Charter School of Wilmington students won $11,000 in Samsung products for the school this December and have the potential to win even more. The Samsung challenge is an annual competition hosted by Samsung where students focus on innovating STEM solutions and embrace their roles as the problem solvers of the future.
One team, moderated by Mr. Patrick Liberato, aimed to combat local water quality concerns in Delaware. As a result of their hard work and extensive, resourceful use of innovative artificial intelligence, they are one of 100 semi-finalists in the nation, winning $10,000 as the only team in Delaware to earn this honor.
Another group of CSW students also competed and placed among the Top 400 teams in the nation, earning the title of “Promising STEM Innovation”. Through their accomplishment, students earned $1000 of Samsung Products for CSW this year.
Overall, the school’s success in the Samsung Challenge is phenomenal, bringing valuable resources to the school. Not only does this competition portray the creativity of students, but it demonstrates how students at CSW develop innovative solutions with the goal of helping their local community. Hopefully, CSW can continue to build this momentum and inspire its students to innovate and improve their communities in the future.
