Checkpoint #4: Paper Draft
January 23, 2009
At this time you will submit a typed copy of your completed draft in APA format for review. On the Senior Research website are the rubrics that you and your advisors will be using when editing your paper.
Other items that your homeroom teacher or project advisor will be reviewing include:
- Experiment has a control and variable that supports your hypothesis.
- Data is mathematically analyzed and supported within the paper.
- Paper is not a book report but a scientific investigation with mathematical analysis of data.
- References are not all websites but a mix of books and peer reviewed academic journal articles.
- Paper and references follow APA format guidelines.

It is your responsibility to schedule time with your homeroom teacher and advisor to review their comments and/or concerns. Any items identified by your homeroom teacher and/or your advisor in addition to your edits must be corrected before submitting your final paper.
You should expect that you will need to revise your draft paper before submitting the final paper. Your homeroom teacher or advisor can assist you during the editing process.
Once your paper is approved and it is the final draft, submit it to www.turnitin.com. So that you can correct any violations from turnitin.com, you should submit your paper at least 1 week before the presentation. Check the Charter website for details about using turnitin.com. You will submit the report and any citation corrections that the program identifies in your paper when you present and submit your final paper.
