Medications Early Dismissal Absences
I am available Monday-Friday, 7:30 m-3:00 pm. My phone number is 651-2727 ext.225. My e-mail is kmicale@charterschool.org. My direct fax number is 302-651-2656.
For health and safety reasons, all students must have a pass to visit the nurse’s office. Students who need to take routine medication do not need a pass.
MEDICATIONS:
By law, students are not permitted to carry medications with them at school, including Tylenol, Advil or Midol. All medications are to be administered by the school nurse. Students must have parent permission for medication to be administered during the school day. There must be a current emergency card on file which gives parental permission to distribute Tylenol/Ibuprofen/ during the day. I also supply Tums and cough drops.
Students may carry an epi-pen for severe allergies or an asthmatic quick relief inhaler as long as the following criteria are met:
- They have asthma or a severe allergy
- The medication has the prescription label
- There is signed parent permission on file
- They are responsible and educated as to the use of the medication
- Back up medications are kept in the nurse’s office

Early Dismissal Due to Illness:
Students may not call their parents during the course of the day to go home due to illness. They must come to the nurse’s office where they will be assessed. The nurse will then contact the parent/guardian if early dismissal due to illness is indicated.
