2006-07 Schedule
October
- 7 - Avi, Henry, Raja, and Mr. T went to the University of Maryland to play in the Early Fall Tournament. Playing against college teams and their alumni, the team posted an 8-2 record, finishing second overall out of eight teams. Both loses were to Virginia A. Mr. T. was fourth in scoring and Henry was seventh. Charter alumni Mark, Claire, and Greg were also at the tournament.

28 - Charter sent seven teams to the Long Island Fall Tournament (LIFT) at Northport HS, New York.
- David H, Grace, Jennifer, Kevin, and Stephen went 2-4, finishing 38th out of 50 teams. David was 13th individually out of 208 players.
- Abigail, Billy, Jimmy, Philip, and Ponni went 2-4, finishing 31st.
- Ben, Christine, Lisa, and John went 4-2, finishing 19th. Ben was 19th individually.
- Byron, Jack, Jeff, and Kyle went 4-2, finishing 17th and missing the cut by only 85 points.
- Andrew, Chris, David W, Nick, and Meg went 4-2. Andrew was 18th individually. They entered the playoffs as the 16 seed, played Charter B in the octos, and narrowly lost their consolation round to Half Hollow Hills A. The highlight of the day was that if it weren't for a protest, they would have defeated eventual champion Gonzaga. They came the closest out of any team Gonzaga faced.
- Avi, Bob, Mariellen, and Rob went 5-1 in the prelims and was the 10 seed. Avi was 15th individually. They lost their octo, but won their consolation by a considerable margin, ending the day ranked 9th.
- Henry, Mi, Neeraj, and Raja set a new Charter record for points per game: 600 in their 7-0 prelims. Henry was 3rd individually, and Neeraj was 14th. Entering as the 1 seed, sleep deprivation caught up with them in the quarters and they were knocked out. They finished fifth overall, defeating Seton Hall Prep A by over 200 points in the consolation match.
November
- 11 - 3 teams traveled to SKIT at Rutgers, New Brunswick
- Charter C (Rob, Byron, Kyle, Nick, Jack) went 4-2, 4-1 for 7th overall
- Charter B (Mariellen, Avi, Crabby, Ben, Jeff) went 5-1, 2-3 for 4th overall, which was good enough to get team B qualified to nationals.
- Charter A (Henry, Raja, Neeraj, Mi) went 6-0, 4-1 for 2nd overall. Their loss was to Livingston A who won the tournament.
- 18 - Blazing new territory, Charter became the first high school to host TRASH regionals. Rob led a house team that finished 8th overall out of 15 teams.
December
- 2 - Our second trip to Lncaster brought a second victory. We went to Penn Manor to play on material supplied by Questions Unlimited (but oddly not in the four quarter format). There were 46 teams at the tournament.
The B team (Mariellen, Rob, Will, Kyle, and Jack) went 3-2 in the prelims. Finishing as the 15 seed, they lost to Penn Manor A in the octos.
The A team (Neeraj, Henry, Raja, and Mi) won the tournament going a perfect 9-0. The playoff rounds were as follows:
- Octos v. Conestoga Valley A: 175-85
- Quarters v. Manheim Township A: 185-140
- Semis v. West Chester East A: 255-45
- Final v. Manheim Township B: 205-170
- 9 - Charter hosted the Delaware Fall Tournament. All four the of the JV teams made the quarterfinals, and Crabby, John, Lizzy, and Meg won the bracket. The varsity bracket was won by Moravian Academy, captained by Ben Schenkel, who finished 2nd in Teen Jeopardy! in February.

6 - Charter hosted Charter Challenge III for Middle School teams. Both brackets were won by Newark Charter
- 13 - The team traveled to Thomas Jefferson in Washington, D.C. The team of Henry, Neeraj, Raja, and Rob finished 4th in a nationals-caliber field of 36 teams. The biggest win of the day was a come from behind 5-pointer in the quarterfinals against State College A. They also had a prelim win against Raleigh Charter, who later was the team's semifinal loss. All five of the other teams finished 2-3.
- 27 - We took first and second at the NAQT State Championship hosted by Salesianium. Opponents of future years take note: this tournament was won by Henry, John, Little Meg, and Neeraj, two sophomores and two freshmen.
- 28 - Kyle, Neeraj, Rob, and Mr. T went to the Atlantic Seaboard Scrimmage at Maryland, College Park. We ended up winning the lower bracket of this trash tournament.
February
- 10 - Avi, Bob, Mi, Raja, Rob, and Will won their bracket in the Comcast Academic Challenge prelims. This was accomplished in seven rounds, as an early loss to Mount Pleasant forced a climb through the consolation bracket. Before that loss, we had won 26 consecutive matches in the tournament.
- 24 - Oops, we did it again. Charter wons its fifth Comcast Academic challenge title. The three matches which were televised:
- Charter 375, Archmere 125
- Charter 295, Saint Marks 165
- Charter 325, Saint Marks 280
- 24 - At the same time the seniors and Raja were busy in Dover, the sophomores went to Conestoga Valley in Lancaster. The B team went 3-2, finishing 24th out of 48. The A team of Henry, Neeraj, Nick, Lisa, and Christine made it to the quarterfinals, and thus were in the top sixth of the field.
- The Sons of Canada and the Shrew (David, Crabby, Chris, Little Meg, and Henry) won Intramural 2: The Wrath of Bard, defeating Raja's team in the final. Several teams were close in the standings
March
- 17 - Henry won his second consecutive Blue Hen, this time paired with Rob, Raja, and Neeraj. Charter had a good day, with 7 teams in the top 13. The most exciting round of the day was the final, in which after 8 tossups the score was Charter 255, Gonzaga -5.
- 24 - While many of our A team were finishing 5th in the nation in WorldQuest some of the other teams traveled to Walter Johnson in Bethesda, MD. Three teams qualified to the round 16 and Raja, Avi, and Jeff finished 8th.
- 31 - Discovering the idea of a "Road Trip", the team went to E.O. Smith in Storrs, CT on an overnight. The competition was a small one, with 12 teams from Charter, Seton Hall Prep, Kellenberg, Half Hollow Hills, and a house team. Charter A (Rob, Raja, Neeraj, Henry) finished 1st, with no one getting closer than about 200 points all day. Charter B (Mariellen, Will, Ben, Jack) finished 3rd losing to Seton Hall Prep A in the semis. Charter C (Kyle, Avi, Nick, Christine) finished 6th.
April
- 21-22 - Kyle, Neeraj, Rob, and Mr. T. will attended TRASHionals in College Park, MD. The team finished ahead of seven other teams in the field, and was (we believe) the first team at TRASHionals composed primarily of high school students.
Nationals
- May 25-28: Charter A and B traveled to Chicago for NAQT HSNCT. The B team went 5-5, with one win over a team that made the playoffs. The A team went went 7-3 on Saturday, with a narrow win over New Trier and a last tossup loss to Richard Montgomery. As the 14 seed on Sunday, the team was upset by East Lansing in the second round. But then they strung together four more wins over Livingston, Aiken, North Kansas City, and Gonzaga. In the seventh round, they were eliminated by State College. The game was within 30 points with three tossups to go, but State College answered all three.
This fifth place finish was the highest so far for our team. Henry was 25th individually and was given an all-star trophy.
- June 8-12: The seniors and Raja went to Questions Unlimited NAC in Orlando and spent one day at Univeral Studios. After some typical prelim stumbles, the team fought their way back to the final four of the field, avenging an earlier loss to Hickman A. Their final rank was 12th overall.

- June 24: At the Chris McCray trash tournament at College Park, the team of Rob, Neeraj, Kyle, and P.C. won the high school title. The team of Delaware A including our alumnus Greg Sweeney won the undergraduate title.
