2003-04 Schedule
- Fall 2003
- Seniors Beryl Schragger and Jason Chu, Juniors Arun Hendi and Greg Sweeney, and Sophomore Austin Zheng win the Comcast Academic Challenge. Their road to victory:
- Round 1 against Caravel
- Round 2 against A.I. duPont
- Semifinal against St. Marks
- Final against Dover
- Championship round against A.I. duPont in 1 match
This is the second title for Charter in this contest, the titles being consecutive wins with Beryl and Jason on both teams.
- December
6 - We were going to send 4 teams to Princeton, but got a blizzard instead.
13 - The new Saturday taping schedule of Comcast pushes the NAQT Fall Tournament to this date. 30 teams compete. The Austin Zheng, Ben King, Jon Meier, and Kyle Srivasta team makes it to the final of Varsity. The Terry Wang, Tori Chu, Mariellen Boyle, Jerry Yang, and Mike Yuan team wins every round until the final of JV.
- January 2004
10 - We take to a team to Green Eggs and Hammond and end with a 2-4 record. This is our first exposure to the bizarre (to us) "confer at any time" rule.
17 - Beryl, Claire, Alan, and Chris go to TJIAT. Their 3-2 record with high points earns them a trip to the octo-finals, and a loss to Raleigh Charter.
24 - Beryl and Mr. T. go to Penn Bowl as part of the University of Delaware team. They win 3 prelim rounds and win their consolation bracket.
- February
7 - Beryl, Arun, and Claire run the table at NAQT states: a perfect 6-0. Terry, Mark, Mark, and Craig post an impressive 5-2 to finish 3rd.
21 - Fiesta Bowl at Howard. We've never played "It's Academic" before and the format takes some getting used to. But both teams make the octo-finals. Beryl's team was seeded 8th, Greg's team 15th. Both teams lost that round, but a good time was had by all.
- April
3 - UD's spring break pushes Blue Hen VI back to this date. There were 24 teams of which five are from Charter. Three of our teams make the quarterfinals, but unfortunately all three dropped that round. Final finishes: 6th, 7th, and 8th.
- May
2 - The team ventures to the University of Maryland. After early losses to TJ B and Maggie A, the team wins the next four rounds. The 4-2 record earns them a trip to the octos, and a loss to ER A.
27 - The tv team leaves for New Orleans! The trip was great, and lots of Nintendo is played in the hotel room. Oh, and at the tournament the team went 2-2 in the prelims. The highlight of the tournament was being the 16 seed and defeating the 1 seed in the playoffs. Unfortunately, a protested question was the difference that cost the team a win in the quarters. In "Tournament Progression", Questions Unlimited has us ranked 14th out of over 100 teams.
